At last, there may be the slightest hint that spring is making an appearance in 2016. And while we're blessed with a few extra degrees in London when the temperatures do start to rise, it's always good to see sunny spells across the country.
With the sunshine comes the need to go in search of something brighter and a little bit more stylish to welcome in the new season. And what's more, it's an excuse to add a few new pieces to your wardrobe.
Five of this spring's trends have really jumped out at us; they're versatile, quirky and allow for every individual to add their own spin. Here is what we love about each one, and some of the ways they can be styled.
A jacket for almost all occasions and almost any body type. From designer brands to high street stores you'll find them everywhere in a variety of colours, textures, and patterns. Dressed down with jeans and trainers, or dressed up with a bodycon dress and heels as the perfect cross-over for a smart/casual vibe. They'll also keep the chill away when the nights draw in, or summer makes a hasty retreat after only a few days!
Simplicity is the keyword when it comes to slip dresses. Their straight lines and sophisticated cut ooze femininity that works, regardless of how you style it. We know that this 90’s style dress isn't for everyone, some may find it too revealing and a little too daring, but we thinking they're the perfect addition to a simple tee or layered with a checked shirt to give it a totally different feel. It's a dress with little identity, making it the perfect canvas to create your own masterpiece.
For years, summer sandals have been about delicate straps and thin soles, but this year seems to have made a complete u-turn. This spring sees chunky heels, thick straps and peep toes being as a new found favourite. Whilst delicate is great for the right occasion we cannot get enough of these bold shoes - our particular favourites are flat forms and heeled mules.
Off-the-shoulder tops are not so much a trend, more a wardrobe essential, providing a little bit of cover and a hint of flesh in near perfect proportions. Slightly seductive meets super comfortable. Worn smart or casual, night or day off-the-shoulder tops are feminine and flirty with a huge variety of styles to suit most body types, making them all the more appealing.
